Fun Valentines…

Looking for some Valentine fun with your kids? Check this cute idea from my photographer friend, Meredith Clayton,  in Orlando, FL:

I truly wish I had the time (and creative streak) to make cute stuff like this. I pretty much just go to Target and buy the candy valentines…you know the ones…where all you have to do is write in the “to” and “from” info. (I can’t even find a picture of it on the web…that’s how sad it is!)

Here’s how addressing Valentine’s cards plays out at my house:

February 13th, 8:30 p.m.

Me: “Kids…time for bed! Wait! We forgot to make your Valentines….quick…you have 5 minutes!”

Kid #1: Yeah!

Kid #2: I can’t find my class list!

Me: Ummm…well…just make them for the kids you can remember. Then take extras to school for the ones you couldn’t remember.

Kid #1: I can’t find a pen!

Me: Use a pencil.

Kid #1: I can’t find a pencil.

10 minutes later…after we find a writing utensil…

Me to kid #1: You need to hurry. It’s time for bed.

Kid # 1: I’m trying! (breaks down in tears)

Me: Here…just give it to me…I’ll do it.

I wish the above conversation wasn’t a real one that happens every year. I really do.

BUT…if you are more creative than I am, you might also like these two free, fun programs:

1. From Jodi Friedman and Photographer Cafe, a free Valentine Card template.

2. Heart shaped collages from shapecollage.com. I dowloaded this program last year. It’s super easy to use and versatile. I’ve used it all last year for various activities/holidays/events.

So…Happy Valentine’s Day! (That’s probably all you’ll get from me unless you want a left over Pixie Stick card from my kids’ school cards!)
