Friday Favorites: Meet Mookie

Meet my favorite pip squeak entrepreneur: Mookie.

Miss Mookie lives in NYC (so she’s terribly hip) and loves to draw.  Her work is funky and fun — with a uniquely kid-centered point of view. Last year, Mookie’s mom thought it would be great to put her drawings on t-shirts and sell them to raise money for her elementary school.  The shirts sold like hot cakes, and people wanted more.  So they decided to open up their very own Etsy store with 25 of her designs. You can check her out here.

Aren’t they fabulous? Mookie offers any size custom tops made with the design of your choice on t-shirts, tanks or onesies–even mommy sizes!  Most of the art is for girls, (there is a yellow puppy that goes both ways) but there are some really cute designs for boys coming soon!

Why buy a plain ol’ Gap or Old Navy shirt, when your little Missy can sport one of these? And with Christmas right around the corner…I’m just saying…these would make a great gift!

Here are a couple in-depth, no-holds-barred questions I asked Miss Mookie:

  1. How old are you?     9
  2. Did you ever take any art classes?     No.
  3. What’s your favorite thing to draw?    My favorite thing to draw is girls. Cartoon girls like devils and angels. Girly stuff.
  4. How did you get the idea to put your art on t-shirts?     I just really liked art and I was thinking about putting my art on t-shirts.
  5. What else do you like to do, besides drawing of course?    I love swimming and going to the beach.
  6. What’s your favorite candy?      Juicy Drop Pops and Oreos.
  7. What’s your favorite book?      The Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series.
  8. What’s your favorite thing to do with your family?    Doing fun stuff like going to California and seeing family and going to the park.

Watch out Barbara Walters! Mookie…did I make you cry with my probing questions???:)

Mookie is adorable. Her shirts are adorable. Do you and yours want to be adorable too?? Buy a shirt!
