I have 4 boys. They can’t keep their hands off each other…literally. So for Halloween I thought it only fitting that the ones who are still young enough to trick-or-treat dress up as luchadors. You know, Mexican wrestlers. My 5-year-old’s favorite movie is Nacho Libre. Have you seen it?

My boys quote from this movie nonstop. In fact, there are certain words that I hear now only in Nacho’s voice: the Lord, chips, Easter(s), etc. When I write notes to my kids, I always end it with “XoxOx.” The movie is referenced in our house on a daily basis.
I originally wanted Nacho costumes, but couldn’t find any at a decent price. It’s Halloween…I’m not spending a fortune! Then I decided that a good ol’ luchador costume would do the trick.
Here are a few of the things my boys will be wearing:
1. Luchador mask: Holy moly…I don’t know who is making these…or what their non-profit margin is…but a mask is only $4.50. I ordered three. And for $4.50 the quality is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. They even lace up the back of the head.
2. Cape: I don’t sew. I wish I did…but I don’t…and I don’t see it happening anytime in the near future. So…Etsy…here I come. I found some really cute stuff here. The cape I bought was only $11, which had a felt flame stitched on the back and a velcro closure. (Velcro closures are very important. String closures are strangulation devices. Not that I would know from past experience with my boys or anything.)
3. Stretchy pants: I was at a little bit of a loss on what to use for stretchy pants…then I walked into the girls department at Target and found the perfect thing…black, shiny, stretchy leggings. Shhhh…don’t tell my boys that these are girl clothes or they won’t touch them. I’ll probably say I found them in some Halloween shop and they’ll love them.
And now, for your viewing pleasure:
I can’t wait to unveil the costumes at Halloween. Probably not before then or they’d be in pieces by the time Halloween hits.
