That’s pretty much the only Irish expression I know! My ancestors were Scottish…we were so wrapped up in our pillaging and warring that we didn’t have TIME to learn their language or traditions! But, in our house, we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day like we are Irish. (Minus the beer)
“Seamus the Leprechaun” makes an appearance every year. This year my 5-yr-old set up a leprechaun trap. It took him about 30 minutes, and for a 5-yr-old it was really creative. It involved a box, lures, a trick and an alarm system, which his father set off twice around 11:45 p.m. when he got home from his business trip. Seamus left a “nice try trapping me note” and a trail of gold (Rolos and the little gold Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups), some even leading into the bathroom, where we found green pee in the toilet. (What?? Boys L.O.V.E. potty humor!) Oh…and a gift of Lucky Charms cereal for the boys to eat for breakfast from said leprechaun.

He was so excited this morning that he woke up at 6:00 a.m. convinced there was a leprechaun in the house at that very moment and made my husband get out of bed to go check downstairs with him. Have I mentioned how much I love kids??
In other news…
My trip to Washington, D.C. is getting so close that I’m starting to watch the weather. I know it’s still a couple of weeks out, but 50s and rainy??? What’ s that?? Sometimes living in southern California you forget that the weather actually CHANGES in other parts of the country! Looks like I’ll have to go shopping for a sweater. And maybe some shoes. Just in case I need new shoes.
Luckily, cool weather and rain don’t scare me. I’m so excited for my trip I can hardly stand it! It’s the complete package as far as trips go. I get to take photos, meet new people, travel by myself (as a mother of 5…traveling by myself is a rare, rare thing), see my niece who moved out there a few months ago and visit one of my best friends from my London Study Abroad days, eat out, etc.
If you or anyone you know is interested in a session, here’s the 4-1-1 on the D.C. trip:

Don’t miss out! Pictures in Old Town Alexandria are going to be killer!
That’s it…Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
