Sneak Peak: Back from Afghanistan!

Here is my little brother, Chrissy, as I affectionately call him, back safe and sound from Afghanistan. (Note: his real name isn’t Chrissy. I just torment him with that name.) I think until you have one of your own serving our country in a hostile environment, you don’t fully appreciate the service and dedication and sacrifice given by thousands. My heart was particularly tender toward all things war related during his service. And I’m just his sister.

Really, my heart goes out to his sweet wife and baby boy he left behind for 8 months.

I’m sure coming home is an adjustment. Your wife doesn’t take well to you ordering her around, or yell “Yes, sir.” That’s hard. Also, your baby boy, even though you left a video tape of you reading a book and your wife diligently had him watch it over the 8 months…and even though she showed him lots of photos of you…doesn’t remember you. He doesn’t really appreciate you invading his life. Nor does he appreciate your rude appearance into the bed he and his mom have shared…alone.  He’ll warm up soon, because you are an awesome dad (and uncle!). But, I hope these photos serve as a humorous reminder of his adjustment! xoxo
